Meet Sandram, a Dublin resident who has found a sense of community and integration through volunteering. Sandram shares how volunteering has enriched his life and why he believes it can make the world a better place.

“I moved to Dublin recently. Volunteering has helped me to integrate, and I appreciate the warm welcome I’ve received from the Irish community.

“I support various local events and activities with Fingal Community Volunteers, and I volunteer with Blanchardstown Tidy Towns.

“I enjoy providing assistance through volunteering. Meeting other people who share an interest in volunteering has been amazing. Through volunteering, I’ve met very lovely people from different cultures. I especially wish to thank Megan and Ciara from Fingal Volunteer Centre, Sean and the team from Blanchardstown Tidy Towns, and Michael from PACE Circles of Support and Accountability.

“We are used to working for an income, but the gratification from volunteering and the passion one sees and feels is something special. The world would be a better place if more people took up volunteering. And it would make a big difference to all communities.”

This National Volunteering Week, we’re celebrating the kindness, compassion, and generosity of volunteers like Sandram.
