While the I-VOL team do their utmost to ensure that all information on volunteering opportunities and the organisations hosting volunteer opportunities is correct, we do not take responsibility for the accuracy of such content.

Volunteer Privacy

Volunteer Ireland and the network of Volunteer Centres take our obligations under the Data Protection Act (1988) as amended by the Data Protection (Amendment) Act 2003 very seriously.

We offer volunteer user registration to make it as easy as possible for you to apply online for volunteering opportunities.

When you register you interest in volunteering, your contact details (name, address, phone and email) and information on skills may be sent to the organisation hosting the opportunity in order to take your application forward. We have developed the application process of our I-VOL in a way that indicates when this will happen. Please note that when these contact details are sent to an organisation hosting an opportunity, you will be contacted directly by the organisation in question.

Otherwise, the information will never be passed on to a third party without your permission unless we are legally obliged to do so.

We will also hold this information ourselves, to allow us to evaluate the effectiveness of our service.

We ask for information about age, disability and ethnicity to help us with equal opportunities monitoring. This information is not forwarded to any third party organisations. By choosing to submit this information you consent to the processing of this information by us. Information you provide is also collated to help us to demonstrate our impact to funders and develop our service to further meet users’ needs.

If you are registering to use I-VOL as a volunteer you are given the option to receive occasional updates from Volunteer Ireland or your local Volunteer Centre. If you would like to stop receiving further mailings from us, you just need to inform us and we will remove your contact details from our mailing lists.

You are entitled to ask for a copy of the information we store about you at any time.

If you have any concerns or questions please contact the I-VOL team.
