Environmental Team Impact Day
Environmental Care Team Impact Days can include litter blackspot clean ups and invasive plant species removal.
Volunteer Ireland will source a project for your team, carry out site visits to detail the project tasks and provide all tools, materials, and safety equipment. We will then lead and advise your team through out the day.
We aim to provide your employees with a high quality volunteer experience while ensuring we have a positive and measurable impact on the environment.
In 2019 an Irish Business Against Litter (IBAL) survey identified Ballymun as one of Dublin’s worst litter blackspots. On foot of this Volunteer Ireland has partnered with local organisations in Ballymun to identify and clean up the area’s litter black spots. We are also working in surrounding areas and other litter blackspots in the greater Dublin area.
Bull Island Nature Reserve is over-run with a non-native species of plant called Sea-Buckthorn. You might wonder why this is a problem? Well, Sea-Buckthorn grows in a thicket, shading out our native dune plants. This completely alters the character of the local dune habitat which in turn affects the numbers and types of invertebrates (e.g. earthworms, insects, crabs, squid, starfish), birds and other wildlife that can live and survive in the reserve. Join us as we walk through this beautiful nature reserve and divide into pairs to remove this thorny pest.
