A short blog by Roseanne O'Leary, STEPS Executive at Engineers Ireland on why this will be her third year attending the National Volunteer Management Conference.
I’m attending the National Volunteer Management Conference 2015 as I have attended the previous two conferences and loved every minute of both days. I apply the lessons learned from the conference to maximise opportunities and minimise threats to my volunteer programme. The most rewarding part of the conference is attending the workshop sessions. Last year I attended a diversity workshop. I finally had a clear understanding of diversity and how to implement diversity into my volunteer programme. I had all my questions answered at the conference.
As a result of talking to Volunteer Ireland at the conference, my volunteer programme is now working towards attaining the Investing In Volunteers quality standard which is the quality standard for good practice in volunteer management. If you would like to improve the effectiveness of your work with volunteers and enhance your organisation's reputation come along to this year’s conference and talk to Volunteer Ireland about the standard.
The conference is a wonderful opportunity to learn about enhancing volunteering in your volunteer programme through best practice in volunteer management in a comfortable, friendly environment. You get to meet other volunteer coordinators and meet interesting people.
