Volunteer Centres Ireland supports campaign to make 2011 the European Year of Volunteering

Volunteer Centres Ireland and its member volunteer centres are delighted to support a campaign initiated by Marian Harkin MEP and four other MEPs from Greece, Germany, Poland and Portugal in the European Parliament. The campaign calls on the European Commision to make 2011 the European Year on Volunteering. You too can play your part!

340 signatures from MEPs need to be collected for a “Written Declaration” in support of the campaign, before it can be adopted by the Parliament.

The signatures have to be accumulated before the 9th of July and Volunteer Centres Ireland is calling on the public to lobby their MEP by emailing them and asking them to sign the “Written Declaration”.

Ireland elects 13 MEPs in 4 Euro-constituencies: Dublin, East, South and North West. Email your local MEP directly!
