Fingal Volunteer Centre: Manager
The Board of the Fingal Volunteer Centre invites applications from suitably qualified persons for the post of Manager.
Overall purpose of the Job: To take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the Fingal Volunteer Centre, to develop provision of services county-wide and to ensure its sustainability.
Key Tasks:
Centre Management
- Design a strategic plan for the sustainability of a county-wide volunteer centre in Fingal
- Develop the centre as a viable resource for voluntary and community groups and volunteers, including implementing appropriate policies and practice guidelines across the Fingal County area
- Develop operation of the Fingal Volunteer Centre in areas currently under-serviced
- Liaise with voluntary and community organisations and assess the number and type of volunteers they require
- Recruit and interview prospective volunteers for opportunities in the voluntary and community sector; assess their interests, skills and support needs and refer accordingly with due consideration to an organisation’s functions and requirements
- Keep appropriate and up-to-date records of vacancies and volunteers
- Develop and maximise volunteering opportunities for the area
- Ascertain barriers to volunteering for certain target groups and seek solutions
- Ensure appropriate direction of the Fingal Volunteer Centre’s human resources
- Take responsibility for the centre’s own volunteers, keeping them informed of opportunities and volunteering issues, identifying appropriate training, support and resources for them
- Monitor satisfaction levels of individual volunteers and organisations with referrals
- Consult and network with community and voluntary groups, keeping them informed and supported with information on good practice with respect to all aspects of volunteering
- Design, and provide training for local organisations in areas relevant to volunteering
- Identify and seek additional funding opportunities for the centre and future project developments
- Promote and develop concept of volunteering to all sections of the community.
Strategic Planning
- Develop representational role appropriately and strategically
- Develop and manage relationships with stakeholders
- Work to increase volunteerism, voluntary activity and promote and develop best practice in volunteering
- Assist board in development of strategic plan
- Keep up to date with volunteering issues regionally and nationally
- Work with local and national organisations to support volunteerism
Finance/Reporting
- Take overall responsibility for attracting funds and managing centre’s finances effectively and efficiently
- Prepare reports, appraisals and budgetary projections and reports
- Report to board
- Set up a monitoring and evaluation system and use accordingly to provide information appropriate to the needs of funders, the centre and other agencies as required
- Identify and access resources (financial, human and material) required to further the aims of the Fingal Volunteer Centre.
Human Resource Management
- Through goal and objective setting, lead and motivate staff ensuring a high standard of performance with appropriate training and backup where identified
- Manage the implementation of personnel policies and procedures as specified and ensure that they are adhered to by staff members
General
- To attend Board meetings and ensure minutes and company reports are maintained
•To carry out any other duties as requested by the Board from time to time.- Key Skills/Competencies
- The Manager will have experience directly or in a related field
- Excellent standard of education including a third level qualification
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, ICT, and managerial skills
- Ability to manage plan and forecast budgets
- Capacity to effectively interact with a broad range of stakeholders
- Capacity to work well within a team, and have a strong empathy for working in a community context
- Candidate would be required to use their own car if they have one and would be entitled to submit expense claims for mileage traveled in the course of their duties.
- The post will initially be based in Blanchardstown with a county wide remit. A priority task of the Manager will be to identify an additional office in East Fingal for delivery of services across the county.
Salary scale for the position is €49,085- €53,309.
