AVSO June 2007 Conference Report, Dialogue and Papers

The AVSO Conference topic was "Shaping Policy for voluntary service through service" - investigating the effects of research in the field of voluntary service for forming global and European policies. The conference took place on 13th June 2007 at the European Parliament in Brussels.

Census 2006 - Principal Socio-Economic Results

In 2006 for the first time ever we had a question on our national census asking members of the public if they volunteer.  In the last week of June, the Principal Socio-economic Results of the 2006 Census were published. 

Taskforce on Active Citizenship Report

The Taskforce on Active Citizenship was established to advise the Government on the steps that can be taken to ensure that the wealth of civic spirit and active participation already present in Ireland continues to grow and develop. They launched their recommendations to the nation in the form of The Report on Active Citizenship on 29th March, 2007. To compliment the Report the Taskforce have also released the Statistical Evidence on Active Citizenship in Ireland and the Active Citizenship in Faith Based Communities.

The Hidden Landscape

This paper on 'The First Forays into Mapping Nonprofit organisations in Ireland' was conducted in 2006 by the Center for Nonprofit Management, School of Business at Trinity College Dublin. CEV "Manifesto on Volunteering in Europe"

CEV launched its new manifesto on 'Volunteering in Europe' in the European Parliament on 28 March 2006 on the kind invitation of MEP Jo Leinen. This manifesto explains why volunteering matters at EU level and what the European institutions can do to recognize, promote and support volunteering and networking. This manifesto is a revised version of the 2003 manifesto.

Volunteers and Volunteering

The Oireachtas Joint Committee on Arts, Sport, Tourism, Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs produced their Sixth Report entitled Volunteers and Volunteering in Ireland in January 2005.

Tipping the Balance

Tipping the Balance is the report to government, formulated by the National Committee on Volunteering in 2001/2002 to address the needs of volunteers and volunteering in Ireland.
