Staff
Volunteer Centres Ireland (VCI ) has two members of staff dedicated to the promotion of volunteering and the development of a volunteering infrastructure in Ireland.
CEO - Dr. Yvonne McKenna
From a background in academia, Yvonne has several years experience of volunteering both in Ireland and England, where she lived for eight years. Upon her return to Ireland in 2003, she was increasingly drawn to working within the community and voluntary sector and began working with VCI in September 2005. In addition to her work with VCI , Yvonne continues to engage in oral history research and is an associate research fellow / lecturer at the University of Limerick.
Information and Communications Officer - Terri O’Brien
Terri recently returned to Ireland having lived in the USA for 12 years. She has 9 years of experience working as a Volunteer Programme Manager, and lots of experience volunteering with a variety of non-profit organisations.
In her first job as a Volunteer Manager with The Nature Conservancy in Arizona Terri worked to setup a volunteer programme from scratch implementing recruitment, interview, training, evaluation, retention and recognition procedures.
Terri later moved to Oregon where she worked for 4 years with a local government Parks and Recreation District where she oversaw volunteer programmes at 15 locations, implemented volunteer policies and procedures, and managed the Park District’s special events.
