Volunteer Ireland host Ireland Involved Awards ceremony on International Volunteer Day

Volunteer Ireland will tonight host the fourth annual Ireland Involved Awards ceremony at Dublin Castle. The event coincides with International Volunteer Day, which is celebrated worldwide with events recognising the contribution volunteers make in society.
The Ireland Involved Awards shine a light on the work of volunteers around the country. Although there are ten categories, there are a myriad of roles in thousands of organisations, big and small, dotted around Ireland. Every town in Ireland is a hive of voluntary activity and the Awards aim to spread the word about what’s happening on the ground.
This year, 240 people from across the country were nominated for their volunteer work. Each were nominated by family, friends, colleagues and of course, fellow volunteers. Each volunteer received a certificate in recognition of their nomination. 30 shortlisted nominees will attend tonight’s gala awards ceremony at Dublin Castle. Visit the Ireland Involved Awards website to read the inspiring stories of the shortlisted volunteers.
Why not join the worldwide celebration on International Volunteer Day and thank a volunteer you know? – you could ‘tweet’ thanks to a volunteer on Twitter, send an email or text message or say a personal thank you to a volunteer that has made a difference to you or your community.
