Sunshine House celebrating 75 years of holidays for children
Sunshine House is 75 years old this year and what better way to celebrate than having a special fun open day on Saturday 22nd May next for children young and old as past holiday makers and future holiday makers get together with past and present volunteers to mark this very special milestone at this very special place.

Since it was founded by the St. Vincent De Paul in 1935, Sunshine House in Ballbriggan has given a holiday to over 100,000 Boys and girls aged between 7 and 11 who are nominated for the holiday programme by the network of SVP Conferences spread across the Greater Dublin area stretching from Arklow to Athy to Ardee to Drogheda. Special holiday packages are also organised for children from outside this area. The holiday centre is purpose built and equipped to host over 1,300 children annually in a season of 16 week-long (Saturday to Saturday) holidays.

Sunshine House is managed by St. Vincent De Paul volunteers. Over 270 volunteers help out on the holiday programme annually. People from all walks of life give a week of their summer to care for each group of up to 100 children on holidays, organise and supervise play, and of course have lots and lots of fun. Indeed many Sunshine children come back as adults to give a holiday to new generations of children. To mark the 75th anniversary of Sunshine a new play centre will be officially opened in the grounds of the House by Sunshine President, Jill Smith at 14:00hrs.

Friends of Sunshine from the past 7 decades will join in what promises to be a wonderful celebration.
