President Mary McAleese congratulates volunteers involved in the National Day of Volunteering 2010

It gives me great pleasure to send my warmest congratulations to all those involved in the 2010 National Day of Volunteering.
All over Ireland, volunteers of all ages give of their time and effort to make a difference to a huge variety of worthy causes in their local community or around the world. Their life-enhancing work contributes to the resilience of our communities and makes our society a better place to live.
The 2010 "Give it a Swirl" National Day of Volunteering is a wonderful opportunity for those who are new to volunteering to get involved and to experience for themselves the rewards that come from making a positive difference to the lives of others. I am delighted to congratulate all those who take part and I hope that for many, this will be the start of a richly rewarding volunteering experience.
Is iontach an obair atá ar siúl agaibh go léir. Gura fada buan sibh agus go raibh maith agaibh.
Mary McAleese
President of Ireland
