Volunteer Centres Ireland’s one day volunteering initiative is no longer going by the name ’Give it a Swirl’, but will now be known as the National Day of Volunteering.

Now in its fourth year, the National Day of Volunteering 2010 will take place on Friday, 1st October and promises to be bigger than ever, building on the success of last year when more than 4,000 people got involved, volunteering in more than 170 projects across the 26 counties. This year, we’re going to double participation and really make a difference to communities all across Ireland.

Volunteer Centres Ireland, together with our member Volunteer Centres all over Ireland work with community and voluntary organisations, developing hands-on volunteering opportunities to take place on the day.

The National Day of Volunteering works because it taps into people’s intrinsic
motivation to help others, providing both the opportunity, the reason and ‘the ask’.

The complete National Day of Volunteering website will be up and running soon! Please check back for more information.
