Please Take Part in Our Survey about Volunteer Placements.
As we all know, volunteering is the bedrock of Irish society and the building block of community. We have a strong tradition of volunteering in Ireland and most of us are directly or indirectly positively affected by the work of volunteers every day of our lives - whether we’re even aware of it or not. Positive volunteering experiences, however, don’t always happen just by chance. For the individual volunteer, the volunteer-involving organisation and the person or people that are the recipients of volunteering, it’s important that it’s the right person in a role that is right for them. Through knowing what is expected of them and having certain expectations themselves, organisations that involve volunteers and volunteers themselves, ensure a win-win situation for all.
Sometimes, however, things don’t work out as we’d hoped or planned and the experience of volunteering turns out not to be a positive one. Volunteer Centres provide support to both volunteers and volunteer-involving organisations so that more people can access volunteering and there are more quality volunteering roles to access. To ensure that the services we provide are the appropriate ones, we’re undertaking this
survey to find out why volunteering experiences are sometimes less than positive and what we can do, by way of additional supports to volunteers or volunteer-involving organisations, to improve things.
The
survey is completely anonymous and should take no more than ten minutes to complete and we’ll be using the results only to make sure the services we provide are the right ones. As always, we’re interested in hearing your positive experiences too and have left some space in the
survey for you to share these also.
Finally, thank you. We’re very grateful for the time you have taken to help us with our
survey so that we can better meet the needs of volunteering in Ireland.
