2010 Pramerica Spirit of Community Awards

The Pramerica Spirit of Community Awards is an All-Ireland recognition programme which recognises and rewards post-primary/second-level students for volunteer work carried out in their communities

Do you know a student volunteer who deserves to be recognised for their volunteer work? Then encourage them to apply for the Pramerica Spirit of Community Award! This programme recognises post primary, secondary-level students from both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland for community service activities, and is co-sponsored by the National Association of Principals and Deputy Principals, (NAPD) and the General Teaching Council for Northern Ireland, (GTCNI).
What Rewards can young people achieve?
Nominees have the opportunity to receive €1,000 for their preferred charity and a trip to Washington and terrific recognition for their school.

Each nominee will receive a Certificate of Merit. The national judging panel will then select 15 finalists from all nominees.

These 15 finalists will be awarded a Silver Medallion, €500 and an invitation to the Gala Awards dinner. At this event, two All-Ireland Youth Volunteers of the Year will be named, each of whom will receive €1,000 for their chosen charity, a crystal trophy for their school and a trip to the United States.

How to Enter
Instructions for Students

If you are a student at post-primary/second-level in the Republic of Ireland or Northern Ireland, and conducting a volunteer-service activity, you are eligible for the Pramerica Spirit of Community Awards. You can ask your school principal for an application form. Completed applications should be submitted to your school principal by the 23rd of October 2009.

Instructions for Schools
Applicants must submit their applications through their school principal by the 23rd of October 2009. Follow these steps to help you implement the program.

Implementing The Programme Is Easy
There are two categories in the 2010 Pramerica Spirit of Community Awards;

Junior category (for students under the age of 16 on the 13th of November 2009)

Senior category (for students under the age of 19 on the 13th of November 2009)

Every school can submit a maximum of two applications (one in each category) and school Principals/Deputy Principals will be responsible for selecting these two applications (one in each category) to go forward for national judging.

A judging panel, including people from charitable organisations, education and Pramerica, will select 15 Finalists and the two All Ireland volunteers. Students from Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland are eligible.

All students who submit an application will receive a Certificate of Merit. The Pramerica Spirit of Community Awards programme was designed not only to identify the twenty top youth volunteers, but also to give schools an effective way to congratulate deserving young volunteers and to hold them up as role models for other young people.
